Light has always been one of the great obsessions of painting. It may be an ambition or a nightmare, an aspiration or a torment, but it is always an enigma in which to fantasize and lose one's way. Ever since the begining of painting, the idea of light has openly or insidiously pervaded all its actions. Painters of all ages have always tried to find ways to re-create all possible formal and linguistic effects so taht the various expressions of light could bring narrative to life. In many cases, the sense of brightness coincided with the degree of spirituality or emotion of the entire structure of the painting. Luminescense was shrouded in sanctity and light became revelation, knowledge and truth.
