This publication has been created for the Beuys Event in the context of the Collatreral Exhibitions of the 52nd Venice Biennale.

The book and the event have the same main aim: to make a comparative analysis, 30 years on, of the environmental, economic, humanitarian, educational political, social and cultural issues that the German maestro Joseph Beuys discussed during the 100 days at documenta VI in Kassel, in the context of his organiz-ation the F.I.U. (Free International University). We want to elicit discussions and debates on these issues, which are still very much in evidence throughout the world today, in order to contribute to improving human existence and the society we live in.

In this book we have tried to apply our experience and knowledge in order to bring forth a profound form of communication, with the potential to encourage the reader to think about and analyze things, to comprehend the importance of rediscovering the human values that enable us to live at peace, because we cannot look to external factors and other people to find meaning in our own lives.

This publication is structured around the concept of identity, and brotherhood between men. It is about finding the right word at the right time, respecting otherness, working together freely and fairly, and discovering a form of freedom based on harmonious balance and the opportunity to be ourselves at all times, rather than arbitrary impulses. We believe that human creativity is life and a universal love for the future of art, for the future of humanity itself.
