100 Pages, Illustrated. 9 3/4 x 9 3/4"
Clelia Belgrado's reporting from Myanmar is "atypical" as Denis Curti writes. Her photographs are organized in a sequence halfway between journalism and portraiture in a production of marked theatricality that conveys all the flavor and fascination of a land and culture which, in this era of global communication, is still one of the most mysterious and far-off.
The volume, with essays by Denis Curti, Roberto Mutti and Frabrizio Boggiano, contains 60 images divided in two sections. Light and Water, shows fishermen on Lake Inle with their movements poised between dance and rituality. In Presences, the subject of research is the face of the people, everyday rituals, life, play and work in a world in which silence and dignity reign supreme.
