Koshlyakov is the most representative of young Russian artists active during the last decade. At the MACRO in Rome from 18 September. The works of Valery Koshlyakov are now an integral part of major museum collections in Russia, France and the United States.

Recognized internationally as one of the most important young Russian artists, Koshlyakov's language is influenced by striking views of monuments and of historical cities, such as Venice, Rome and Athens, which he has become familiar with through photographs. Painted on used cardboard to which the artist applies cuttings of Russian places and monuments, his images become assemblages marked by strong, disorientating contrasts.
