This is by far the most comprehensive one volume encyclopedia of world cinema. It is an intelligent and engrossing A-Z reference, with some 8,000 entries on the artistic, technical & commercial aspects of filmmaking, including: directors, producers, stars, screenwriters, & cinematographers; styles, genres, & film schools; motion picture studios and film centers; industry jargon & technical terms; and inventions, inventors & equipment.
It should be noted that individual films are not included, since the 1500+ pages would have to expand another 1000!
Fred Klein is a former book editor and now book reviewer in California.
Ronald Dean Nolen is an actor-writer and former editor of Centerstage. He lives and works in New York and Los Angeles.
REX REED's comments: "Heavy with indispensable information and worth every pound, this is one of most valuable books in my library. I don't know what I'd do without it."
Katherine Hepburn: "Wow! What a book!"
