Review of the First Edition:
'Engineers who follow its instructions need no longer dread the moment when it becomes essential to commit their thoughts to paper . . . A readable guide which every manager, engineer, technical writer and journalist would benefit from reading.'- Colin Macilwain, The Engineer
Description:
While modern technology may ease the physical chore of writing, it does not help present convincing arguments clearly and concisely. This short, practical guide for engineers, whether students or senior managers, is an essential aid in developing a readable and lucid style in which to express technical knowledge. The book presents worked examples of different types of communication, advising on choice of words, the structuring and presentation of information and using material common to a range of technical disciplines.
Contents:
Preface - Introduction - Vocabulary - Sentences and Punctuation - Paragraphs and Format - Good Style - The Presentation of Written Information - References - Further Reading
